 Um, can you pack sex toys in carry-on luggage in the states? I bought a gift for a friend, a silicone (gel like) men's masturbater, like a dick sleeve for my friend and want to take it down with me. Can I take it on a plane? It's brand new and still in the package. Will they open it? Laugh at me? This is a first for me and I don't know what to do.

Much appreciated.

They see these things everyday at the job, some laugh everyday, personally I wont give a shit what they think or would say, but wont travel with it when traveling with my family. Put the toy in luggage, keep your hand carry free of anything funny or questionable.

Safest way is before leaving, mail it to your destination with your name in receivers name, you will get there before "it" gets there. You can receive your own mail.

Shouldn't be a problem if it is not carry on and doesn't use batteries. We usually take along a strap on but it takes batteries so now we leave it home. Last trip we just bought a new Doc Johnson that doesn't require batteries but will accommodate a vibrating egg.

Never underestimate the childish behaviors of the luggage inspectors.

I was in Steamboat Colorado 2 years ago and two guys were picking up women's lingerie that was quite sexy and giggling like teenage boys. With my back turned I did blurt out "I feel safer already !" and they heard it, blushed, and put it all back.

This was not carry on luggage - this was checked luggage mind you.

I don't care about the embarassment, I'm travelling alone so no family to embarass. And it's going in my carry on. But will it be allowed? It's made in the USA anyway, so why wouldn't they allow it, right?

Oh ya sorry.

There's no reason it wouldn't be allowed. Be sure not to carry a full bottle of lube though, thats a liquid ><

I don't see why you can't - when I traveled this past summer though, I packed my toys in my checked luggage "just in case" it wasn't allowed in carry-on. Like welickit said, make sure it doesn't require batteries and should be fine. You can also check out the Department of Homeland Security list of prohibited items: http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/prohibited/permitted-prohibited-items.shtm I don't see any toys listed on there that are or are not allowed, so I guess it is up to you if you want them in your carry-on or checked luggage. Have fun! ;-)

You should be fine, Mikey. I had no issues when I traveled to NZ with a feeldoe and a vibrator in my luggage. I did have a problem on the way back though, apparently someone decided they liked the feeldoe. It disappeared somewhere between Auckland and Louisville. :(

Have a safe trip and lots of fun.

If the inspectors covet it and can imagine your hijacking the plane with it ("all right, the first fool that moves gets it with no lube!") then be prepared to lose it.

Remember: TSA stands for "Taking Something Always." I'm quite sure they stole my camera on my way over here. It was already missing when I went through my bag at my layover.

Checked luggage is safer. It may get sent to the other side of the world, but probably won't get stolen.

If you want to keep your toys, skip the USA and come to Egypt instead. I have a funny story: When I went through customs in Cairo I was in a befuddled state of mind and found myself saying the wrong words to the inspection agent. He asked me if I was carrying any drugs. "Uhh, no... just some herbal stuff," I answered, too slowly. Suspicious, he opened my bags. The first thing he saw was a pack of condoms (somewhere I'd seen condoms on a list of things better to bring from home than to buy locally.) He grinned, closed the bag, and said "Enjoy your stay!"

Actually, the safest place for your possessions when flying is on your person. If it won't comfortably fit in your pants pockets, bring a coat or jacket with deep pockets. Once securely past security, you can transfer your things to your carry-on.

i have never had any problem but never carry with carry on. always take the battries out. if they want to steal it and chance me having HIV then they are dumber than i thought and most are pretty incompentent. i dont really care what anyone thinks about carrying toys and stuff. it is my life and i enjoy it as i deem appropriate.

Actually, just like other liquids, you are allowed to carry on up to 2oz of "personal lubricant" as long as it is in a ziplock bag with the rest of your liquids. (Read on the TSA website with much amusement).

My question is, why would you WANT to carry on a sex toy or 2 oz of personal lubricant? Unless that is your only bag it's much better to put liquids, etc. in ziplock bag and put all in checked luggage. Especially since they fly planes the size of sardines these days - the less you have to carry on the better.

Maybe you should consider an alternate method of transportation?

Any if anyone is wondering, my wife found it for him and I. Gawd, ain't she the best?!?!?!

Actually, I have a related question: does anyone think I'll have trouble bringing back medications that require a prescription in the US?

You might, but if you have a prescription, you should have no problem.

I suffer from migraines and the only thing that helps is codiene - which needs a prescription here. Drs. never prescribe it, so I have friends buy it for me over the counter when traveling abroad. they just put it in their regular luggage.

Good luck, and safe travels.

Well, I don't have a prescription for codeine.

American medicine sucks so bad. Like, you're supposed to make a doctor's appointment when you wake up in the middle of the night in abject pain? (I did, last night. Thank God I had a bit of codeine in my meds bag.) I get migraines, too. Will bring extra.

Yeah, that does look like fun. But I think I'll wait for the $7 Chinese knockoff to come out!
