Recently Mr CelticBerserker started the thread "Spririts", which is concerned with adult beverages.

How about more spirits, this time talking about experiences with spirits etc.

My story is a sad one. Our 13 year old dog, we got her when she was six weeks old, had developed cancer and had to be put down. We were both saddened and spent a very quiet day at home. Early that evening my wife and I BOTH heard her bark, a very distinctive bark that we used to hear when she wanted to come back inside. I jumped up and ran to the back door, but there was nothing there.

I swear I heard a ghostly voice at the playhouse while I was in the back room putting on my tap shoes :yikes2:

I am not making this up. According to one of the actors, there was a caretaker who lived in what is now one of the dressing rooms who died in a fire. He could have been pulling my leg, this I admit. I googled the playhouse name and the word fire and found out in a recent news article in a local paper that there was in fact a fire at the theatre in 1942.

As I said, I was alone in the back room. Everyone else was on stage. I'm bent over tying my tap shoes and I hear a faint, raspy voice breathe my name.

I had to go on stage so I didn't have time to think too deeply on it. My mom said if it was a ghost that he was probably giving me my cue.

Shook me up a bit. Go ahead and call me crazy if you feel you must. I care not.

If anyone is interested, I have a link to the article that I can msg to you. I just don't feel like divulging too many details as I've already said way too much in a public fora.

I believe for various reasons but mostly because stuff happens that just can't be explained by science or accident or bad plumbing.

I have a cat in my profile called Wah, he was a black and white moggie that just endeared himself to people cos he was a eccentric cat......

he was not able to meow like normal cats, hence the noise he made, become his new name in a way.... that and the bumble footed elephant, courtesy of my flatmate, cos of wahs habit of coming in the lounge window and just bulldozing his way over everything to get to a lap and go to sleep and not just any lap, it had to be my flatmates lap or mine, he would not go to just anybody and so he became a type of * shit head detector * as he was as friendly as hell to the right people, only the right people.....

after his death, some people began to mention to me about feeling a odd pressure on their legs and sometimes their chest when they were in bed and I would smile quietly, and one day when my flatmate mentioned it to me, I said to him, just say " wah, move ya fat bum, I gotta go to the toliet ", a few days later he mentioned how he had felt the pressure and said what I had told him to say and the pressure moved off his leg....my flatmate went to the toliet and when he came back to bed, within a few minutes the pressure was back...... he went quiet then said to me, that was the exact same way that wah used to lay on his legs in bed.......

his own cat was sheba, a 19 year old siamese cat that was faithful to him, hell he could not even go to the toilet without her sitting outside the door and meowing her head off until he came out... if anything was not right in the house, she had that siamese howling type meow and I knew if I heard it, move fast, something was wrong with doug..... my flatmate has said a few times that he is sure he has seen her out of the corner of his eye.... I know for a fact that shes hanging around waiting for him as his health is going down head cos of his age....and a few times I have heard her very distinctive meow, each time the flatmate has been in a situation where he has needed my help cos he is sick and in one case, what the doctor thought was a stomach bug, was actually a blocked gallbladder, he came within 3 days of dying... I have heard many stories about pets and loved ones returning to be beside the people they love...... all I can say for myself, is that somethings can not be explained and for some of us, nor do we need them explained, we just want to enjoy what we have with those that share with us.......

I had a cat by the name of Monkey. She was with me everywhere. She got her name because when she was young she would climb up my pantleg and sit on my foot. I'd then walk around until she got board and climbed off. As she got older, I could walk up to her and she'd curl around my foot. I began "walking the kitty" as I scooted her all over the floor.

She died of what we think was a twisted intestine. Anyways, we have other cats and everyonce in a while I will literally see her face and body on one of the other cats. It happens more when I'm really stressed. I've called the other cats Monkey before I realized sadly that she wasn't with me physically. *sigh*

I know she stays around and nobody can tell me different and the sightings are not just me but my husband has seen her too.

I'm a believer in the spiritual realm because I'm highly sensitized, tuned into it & have had way too many inexplicable experiences of the paranormal to convince me.

I will share one of the most recent here.

A few years back my dad died; being the oldest son in the family, I instinctively reacted to care for my widowed mother.

One morning, shortly after the funeral, while in her kitchen doing her dishes....something....a sudden instinct, compelled me to turn around and I was startled to see an ethereal flash of light rapidly passing through the 'living room' but it appeared to be in the shape of a person.

It had, after all...been his home, and moving through the living room? Catch my drift?

My husband believes that this stuff is all hokey, but I have seen things I can't explain since I was a child and I still see/ hear things to recent times. The last experience/s I had was when my hubby and I crashed at a friend's house when our power was out (due to the hurricane) they still had power, so they offered to let us stay. Well during the night I woke up and I saw what looked like two children standing in the room we were in covered in a sheet. I chocked this off as possibly still dreaming. Later on though, I got up in the morning (around 7 am) and I was walking to the bathroom. I saw a black figure (man sized) in a room that is connected to the hallway. I was the first one up and no one else got up for at least another two hours. I never interact with whatever these things are and I have way too many experiences to recount here. I know many will discount me or tell me it is just dreaming or whatever, but I know what I have seen and I have way too many experiences to think it is nothing.

I have seen the black figure you mention here many times in various contexts. My workplace is rumored to be haunted by the ghost of a former employee who accidentally hung himself one night. I've often had the sensation while working, through peripheral vision,of someone walking by, standing next to me, only to look directly and see no on there.

I wouldn't even know where to start, so maybe it's best not to begin? I'll only say two things.. Thankfully most of the entities I've encountered have been benign, there have only been one or two that have scared me to the CORE of my being, and no - "The Devil" wasn't one of those..the Devil is actually easy to understand, he is the personification of all of the things human nature doesn't like about itself. Not exactly a pleasant energy to be around, but never scared me to the CORE of my being. My personification of "The Devil" just happens to be Jack Nicholson in "Witches of Eastwick" and we all know what happens to poor 'ol Jack in the end.. Notice I didn't say "Satan"

The other one is how do you tell someone, out of the blue - "By the way, your dead husband says everything is going to be alright!" without the rest of the world thinking you are crazy or trying to take advatage of someone?

OK, maybe three things..

In the book "What would Buddha Do?" someone once asked the Buddha, "Does the occult exist?" ..he answered affirmatively that it did exist, but that he would not teach it because ultimately it does not lead to enlightenment.

I guess by now it's pretty obvious that I do believe that there are things beyond our ability to measure with current scientific instruments. At the same time I also try to be a pragmatist..what a long strange trip it has been, so far..

Aww, did I scare everyone off? Sorry folks..I'm still learning to get along with people.

I invite people over but for some reason they can't seem to get out the door quick enough whether their pants are around their ankles or not. I knew I should've planted that beer bong tree in the front yard instead of installing the gingerbread roof. When it rains all the icing runs off the shingles and clogs up the damn gutters.. <grumble grumble>

Did I mention I saw a fairly 3/4 nekkid MAN jogging down the street a few weeks ago in 90F weather? He had on these black (very) shorts that sort of remind me of those black censor bars that are used by the FCC??

Oh well, back to the topic at hand..

Had a few experiences which convinced me early in life spirits, or energy forms exist.

When about four years, visited my great grandmother's home. I sat in the living room beside a worn leather recliner and looked toward a small television on a dresser. Great granddad and me watched Gilligan's Isle.

Directly, he had me fetch glass pony bottles of soda with the old pop off caps on them and a chocolate bar. He leaned up in his recliner and hooked the cap of a bottle on the table edge sitting beside the chair.

In one fluid gesture he pulled against the edge with the cap, sending it flipping up into the air. He then put out an index finger, caught the cap and let it spin Globetrotter style. Soon as great grandfathers and great grandsons are wont to do, he had me learning this pop cap trick.

Shortly there after my grandmother took notice of me doing this. She called her mom's attention to it. Great grandmother walked into the living room. She lifted up the television cord stub which hung from the back of the television.

This meant she had gotten in front of great granddad. I hollered out at her. Used his name and "... says you ought to be out there in the kitchen making Sunday pie." She lit out of the room.

Soon enough I was drawn into circling of grandma and great grandma in the kitchen. I was questioned about the goings on. Finally great grandma spoke up. "Boy, he's been dead fifty years. You and him watching color t.v. on an old busted black and white, him teaching you the pop cap trick. What you 'spect we outta do with you?"

I was never punished for making tall tales about talking with the dead. There was a bit of encouragement in fact that I not try to avoid being a beacon. Over the years I identified an uncle of a close friend to him. The uncle had come by one night to check in on the family.

Never knew him for any reason, next morning pointed to exactly him in a photo they kept out of sight. I played poker with Civil war soldiers one night. My wife had woken to go to the bathroom. Had her convinced what she had seen, because we had all sat in the kitchen round a table, was nothing more than a foggy dream. She bought it for six months, then I could no longer justify protecting her like that.

She was keen enough to have sorted it but figured I had reasons for 'not mentioning the ghostly poker game'. I did. When most folks see one ghost it rattles them. Here I was sitting around with at least half a dozen, joking, cutting up, playing poker discussing life and in general hanging out. I thought it would be a shock to her.

Seen a few more and talk with some. Drove off some. Been driven off by one or two. To me they are a natural state of living. See them as plain sometimes as seeing a living person. Other times I feel the energy haunting about and see nothing. Point, it's all just living to me and normally doesn't frighten me.

You have good and bad in all though. Respect is a good equalizer.

I'll tell another story. Now I was a teenager when this happened so I was living at home. My Mom and I were the only two people home and I went upstairs to go do my makeup because I was going out with friends. I decided to use my Mom's bathroom because it had the biggest mirror and best lighting. It was connected to my Mom's bedroom so when looking into the mirror I could see my Mom's room. As I was doing my make-up I saw something human sized and blue move from one end of the room to the other in my Mom's room. I thought it was my Mom because she wore these blue pajamas a lot. I called to my Mom and there was no answer so I went to my Mom's room and noone was there. I looked downstairs and there my Mom was on the couch in her normal clothes. I asked if she was just upstairs and she said no.
