I mentioned in my last post about a theiving manager. Well, the story goes, that the bitch counted my drawer last week and it came up $45 short. I always count my customers' change as I give it to them, so there's no way I screwed up there.
I know she took that money, because payday was Monday, and this was Thursday, and apparently, she had to go out of town for the weekend. She most likely didn't have any money left to go on this trip. Not to mention, she gives food away like she's Santa Claus at Christmas time. I was told she would be demoted, but I'm still going to lose my job over this. Hubby thought of a way that I could go back, that involved paying them back the $45, and there's no way in HELL I want to do that. I didn't take that money. I'm not paying them to give me my job back. It wasn't worth that!
I just want to kick this woman's ass, but as I have kids, and am really NOT a fighter, I know that's not the answer. I will be going to the local fast food places and I may even put in a call or two, and warn them of this bitch.
What would you do in this situation?

That's a tough situation. Sorry to hear you're being put in such an awkward place.
Personally, I'd move up the food chain. Go directly to her boss. Doubt you could make the situation any worse at his point. Rememer the fact that they've aleady said she was going to be demoted. That's an ace in your pocket.
Hope my :2cents: helps.
Good Luck,

Regretably there is not much you can do except to maintain some sort of contact there and when she finally gets caught formally request reinstatement, and if they decline, then you might have some recourse.

Are you not present when the bank is counted? It is pretty standard that anytime cash handling is involved (especially foddservice) the employee should be present when the end of shift count is done.
I would first pproach management about this. If they refuse to allow you to be present get it in writing or have a witness present during the discussion. If it goes to unemployment arbitration etc and it is a he said/she said scenerio without any one else verifying the bank, they have to pay the unemployment or give the job back.
Knowing people in upper foodservice management, I can again assure you that the employee being present during the end of shift count is standard practice and would question the ethics of any manager/company who does not allow it.
Hope this helps and best of luck.

When I worked in Walmart as a cashier back in Ontario, they never counted the money in front of you when they collected from the drawer at the register your at. They took a certain amount leaving some so you had change then went off to the next till.
Which was ANNOYING.... so many times the CSM (in red vests) had all these pink slips for certain cashier asking WHY your till had too much money or what happen to a certain amount of money.... they did this like 3 days later so your thinking "ok why did i have to much or to little in my register??"
I found it unfair cause the missing money seemed accussing lol and a lot of us cashiers could never answer it cause no one took the money so how would we know why it was less? PLUS.... you change cashiers where a cashier comes to you "your on break" and takes over your register till you come back.... so thats the problem cause I wouldn't know what that girl did when I took my break.
I think thier money troubles was based on DISorangzing :) they took cash from drawers sometimes DURNING the day not always at night at closing.
The only time you ever saw them counting was when you needed more coins/bills in your drawer.

If you are not the only person to handle the cash in your drawer, I don't know how they can legally make this stick. Was this your 3rd offense or something? Most companies give you 3 written warnings before discharging a person. If you have bad cash handling skills then they put you in a different area till you're able to show you can handle a register again. Theft is automatic termination but should be proven. You could probably consult with a lawyer or paralegal to get their advice.
If you work in a "right to work" state then they can fire you for no reason at all so you're probably screwed anyway.
Going around to other places to bad mouth this person just makes you look like a disgruntled employee and would only make yourself look as bad as she is. :2cents:

Well, the store manager called my husband back and told him they are firing her, too. However, since they can't prove which of us was taking the money ($136 over the course of my employment, which was just a couple of months), I still won't get my job back. She always told me my drawer was fine, when I asked. I couldn't always be there when the drawer was counted, and this is a "right to work" state.
So, I still lose my job because of this horse-faced, rotted buck toothed bitch. It's infuriating, because this isn't the first time I've had this happen. My drawer was counted at another store while I was on break. I wasn't aware of this, but she told me after, that it was $50 short.
I know it's not me, so whomever was taking money out of my drawer will have Karma come down on them like a guillotine. I just hope I'm there when it happens to this bitch.
