This happened on Adam4Adam today.
I had someone contact me over chat, saying that he had added me to his favorites list. Next thing I know, he is talking about being a total top, and having a 8.5 inch cut dick.Moments later, he sends me a picture of "himself", and then of his body with a hard hung dick - all without my asking.

Moments later, he asks me if I am on ODP list - something I haven't heard. He says that this is a list of online dating folks - more of a white list. He says that the ODP scans for "Sex offenders" and that they cannot be part of the ODP list. I tried to find out about it but find nothing. I also realize that to be on such a list, one needs identifying information like an address, telephone number and maybe an SSN in the US.then

Since he said that he lived in the same city as mine, I said that I'd prefer meeting him in person first. To this, he posted a picture of someone with wounds on the face - and this guy said it was him and was hurt by someone on A4A - because of which he insisted on the "ODP".
He asked for my email address to "send an invite" to the ODP, and when I still insisted on meeting on neutral ground like Starbucks, he promptly blocked me.

What do you think about this? Was this a Phishing technique or a plan to blackmail? I am curious to know. Thanks!!

Phishing to be sure. A4A is filled with scammers. Do a reverse image search on Google and let us know what comes up.

No meetup, no matter how hot the bod or how big the cock is worth giving out an SSN and address.

The one guy that engineered me into giving out my real phone number threatened to out me to my wife on Facebook. I told him it didn't matter and he went away. He might have just been a gay bashing troll or it might have been an attempt at blackmail. Or something else. But there is no circumstance that paying blackmail is a good idea. Because the blackmail threat will never go away. Getting outed is a risk of the game.

Seems like Adam4Adam is getting more and more of these types of scammers. I had the same thing happen with the "favorites" and a series of pictures, and captions calling me handsome and cutie... interesting, though = he did not show on the list of people looking at my profile. So, he was kept hidden from that view if he looked at my profile at all. We did not get as far as your guy did.
I also get the request to go to WhatsApp or Google chats. And I say no to that, too... that gives them an open door, I believe.

You point Google to an image and Google looks for that image elsewhere and images that seem similar.

BTW, I just did a reverse image search on my personal photo. It came up with Senior Citizen as the topic. Just great. The similar photos were a bunch of overweight men with no longer dark hair. So it seems to work. Thankfully no other photos of me show up. But I am unfortunately grouped with blowhards like James Carville and Rush Limbaugh.

That's funny! The pic you used to search for yourself. Was it a body pic, dick pic, or face pic? I will have to try one of my pics and see what comes up.

A face pic. I wanted to be sure it didn't come up with any other pictures of me.

My best guess...looking to get any identifying info and perhaps an email tracker cookie so that he can threaten to out you...and you would pay a ransom

If I used a VPN while logging into my email account would he still be able to track me?

Emails are typically tracked by inserting an image in the email because the image has to be called off a server. The tracking image can be one pixel in size and will have a unique name. Google, and I believe most other web mail services, step into the middle and pull the image on its own servers so the end user IP address is not relayed to the tracking party.

And yes, using a vpn adds a layer of privacy to your activities. The Opera browser has a VPN built in. There are limits on the speed and volume, but it keeps your IP from the other party.

My experience is that social engineering is the most dangerous to privacy. That is, a deliberate effort to trick you into giving away a phone number. And no computer based privacy efforts will prevent that.

If you haven't done so, Google you phone number and see what comes up. Then get a VOIP number or a burner phone.

On a computer, i suggest using a Linux virtual machine. Web sites need a lot of information about your computer to properly serve a page. And that information can be correlated among web sites for tracking regardless of your IP. A Linux VM and Windows will report completely different information. But this type of tracking, AFAIK, is used for mass advertising purposes, not by scammers that want to out an individual.

This can be a scary area. If you're just 'talking' sex, who cares? When it comes to actually meeting up... always meet at a public place first. Voice and video meet. Leave your debit and credit cards at home (except the one you want to use to buy drinks or dinner).

I have had more than a few 'dates' that I'm glad I never went on. This one guy said he was in his 30s. Turned out, he was 60-something. Not a deal breaker except that he lied.

I prefer to meet and kind of get to know the people I sleep with before jumping into bed.
