This is truly an amazing video...makes you feel good and also makes you think twice about assuming anything about a person based on face value alone!

I loved watching Simon's expression change when she started singing.

Were you trying to make us cry or something???
That was GREAT!!
That she got a standing ovation after the first verse----you know it is something----and she deserved it----that lady did live her dream that night--and while I am not a fan of these sorts of shows---this segment does go to show that magic and beauty can happen anywhere.
I hope the lady went on to win--if not that contest---at least she gets to live her dream to sing-----she DESERVES that chance.
The blonde hottie on the panel----I don't know who she is--she held it back---but she was so close to letting the tears flow-I wish she would have allowed her emotions to "get the better of her" and she let the tears go.
Thanks for posting Kate.

Showme,
I am so glad you posted that video! It was delightful to watch, to say the least! Just what I needed on this dreary, rainy day to put another smile on my face! Thank you for sharing that!! I just watched The Sound of Music the other night for the first time in many years (saw it the first time when I was just a little girl....ughh...so long ago! LOL!)....that video brought back the good feelings I had after watching that movie once more....and like you, I hated to see the video end! I'll keep it bookmarked for those times I need a pick me up!
Hugs,

Kate-honey, I had to watch that vid a couple of times today and I absolutely Love it! You could see the smirks on the faces of the people in the audiance and they had her pegged as a loser from the second she walked out on that stage. I loved the astonishment in their eyes when that powerful voice came out of what they mistook for an unattractive face and persona.
Again I say Way Ta Go Girlfriend! Loved it!
Thank you so much for restoring fath in not judging a book by its cover.;)

Beauty knows beauty, if it knows itself first. It was nice to see her moved so deeply, despite the hold girlfriend was having on it.

I am highly offended by CNN's characterization of Susan Boyle as an "unlikely" diva.

SHAME ON YOU. She is as likely as our own precious Rita McNeil:

very melodic. I like the fact that she wasn't drowned out by the orchestra.
I am not fond of the screamers [screechers] like Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston who equate LOUD with power....UGH.

And , she has never had a b/f or been kissed ! She sure can sing.
One question though. Is the show like Am. Idol where Simon and his other judges see the singers before the show in auditions? Not to take anything away form Susan Boyle, but Simon Cowell is the Ring Master of this show and knows how to put on a show to get ratings.
Did Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden and Piers Morgan see Susan Boyle preform before the show? And the other judges? I have searched a bit and cannot find an answer.

I have no idea how this show works--but I did see an interview with Amanda Holden in recent days in which she said it was the first time she had seen the woman sing---so maybe in this show---only the production people screen the contestants---those two "blokes" on the vid certainly knew the lady's skill at singing---and if Simon knew it beforehand----he is a good actor or at least in this case--a great bullshitter-- when she was onstage and they were chatting--he sure had his "oh my God--how bad is this slug going to be?" look on his face and there was that moment when she sang that he lost that and you could see his mind working and he says to himself, "holy shit---this woman has real talent!" so it did have a sense that this was a "real" as contrasted with the mostly scripted moments that often take place on these "reality shows."

Wow! This really put things into perspective for me though it wasn't about me. It was so inspiring. I was dazzled and amazed and brought to tears. With so many odds against her, she rose up to the challenge. Thank you for posting the link to it Kate so that we could see it in its entirety.

I love this video and she has an amazing voice.
She reminds me of that opera singer from the UK on some talent show who sold cellphones but had a beautiful singing voice. Whatever happened to him?

it just goes to show, never make hollow judments!
this woman seems to have the nicest personality, an honest one. he voice is so pure and heaven like, with a clarity that is just unimaginable. i hope she has a success like Carrie Underwood, and is able to reach all her goals in life , she seems to have an unfair avantage in this competetion. with a voice from god himself , she WILL touch alot of lives. and with her sweet honest personality, she can do alot of good for alot of people i just hope there is someone to look after her, profesionlally as well as personally. so the wolves dont get to her. truly inspirational. i absolutly hope she comes to tour the US, i WILL go to see her. and yes, it brought tears to my eyes, cant watch it but about once a week. otherwise il will cry my eyes out, and that wont look good! make sit hard for my glasses to work well. she is so unpretentious and nice, i hope she just goes to the top

Thanks Peg & 12Volt for the input.
Reading further down on the Wiki link it says: Quote:
" The judges visited Manchester for three days to begin with; where they saw a total of 120 auditionees. They then visited Glasgow in Scotland for one day; viewing a total of 40 auditionees. They then headed back down south to England, and to Birmingham for three days; and watching a further 120 auditionees.
The next stop was England's capital London, where the judges saw a total of 128 acts, over three days from Wednesday 28 January to Friday 30 January. Finally; the judges went to Wales's capital Cardiff for a day on Monday 3 February, where they saw 40 auditionees attempt to win their vote. "
That would tend to make me think "the judges" saw her and a few hundred others before the first show. If true, I agree they are all great actors in the reaction to Susan Boyle.

I showed this to my girl friend a little bit ago. She sat back uninterested for the first part and when she started singing her eyes became huge and she sat at the edge of her seat the rest of the time. Truly inspirational. Thanks for the posts. XD

I actually have a different take on it. Maybe I'm too cynical, but I just don't see why people thought she couldn't sing?
Maybe we are conditioned to seeing attractive 18 year old girls up there singing but looks have nothing to do with singing ability.
I thought she sang well, but I thought the response of the crowd was sad.
