In the triune brain theory by MacClean, the structures of the brain are broken down according to where they appeared in evolution. Where do you spend most of your time? In your lizard, your rodent, or your monkey?
There is a further developmental structure, the frontal cortex, but very few of us spend much time there. Interesting that advanced meditators are able to though.
This is a of course a gross oversimplification of what is actually happening in your mind, but it is an interesting framework for thinking about your own thought patterns
The board definitely goes through phases I can recognise as belonging to cycles that resemble what is happening in brains as well.

No thesis Cat, just observing. Watching the vitterfolk and/or noobs drop their
memetic bombs and then the reaction of other minds to that incitement. Most of us spend the majority of our time reacting from the lower centres of our brains. Which is fine, we need to, to survive. Really interesting things happen only when we learn to stop reacting and shape what is happening though.
and yes Chook, your brain lizard and that lizard are intimately connected. Hand to lizard, feels good, repeat as necessary  Masturbation is actually one of the first examples of animals subverting biological evolution by taking advantage of their own pleasure centres. Sex is a powerful force precisely because it sits so low among our information filters. Nearly everything we observe is tinted by "sex-coloured" glasses.

 WOW MetaSexual, I never have thought about how the brain goes through a "evolution" like you describe, but I can understand what you mean about how the brain can go through three different developmental stages. It's been happening to me all my life, the same way, time after time. Sometimes in the morning, sometimes in the evening. It's when your lizard wakes up and you say something like "hard times are here again" because your lizard is saying something like "I need some rodent to tear up" or maybe "I need to eat some sort of rodent" ETC. And the only way to get control of the situation and bring the evolutionary process to a close is to just spank the hell out of your monkey. And it works even better if you have an assistant to help you with the process. Or if you have some eye - candy to stimulate the frontal cortex of your brain (that part thats just behind your eyes) Like you said, that is the part of the brain that is hooked to your eyes, and a little stimulation from a magazine or a porno flick can have you spankin your monkey with some real feeling. In other words the more appealing the stimulation, the more your monkey goes ape! Can you dig it?
There is one thing that puzzles me is why do you have to have a cigarette after it's all over?
Oh well enough said for now. :2cents: Thanks for clearing all that up for me.
Your friend,., :doggie:

Thanks for the example Doggie.
You create mildly amusing defensive humour born out of insecurity so I respond with a condescendingly dispassionate observation because it makes me feel intellectually superior. Not a particularly interesting exchange, but hey the monkey likes to be masturbated too. If you want to make it interesting, tell me why you just wrote what you wrote.

Excellent GayAZN, you have perpetuated the cycle of dickishness, and so now as a reward I shall call you an ignorant twat. Mmm feels good, hit me again. Dick-twat-dick-twat.... Now we have ritualised male-stereotypical dominance games going on, up in the social part of the monkey now, definitely still some rodent induced anger action going on though. Oooo mildly violent psychological drama, maybe people will be drawn to this thread now. Sex and violence you know, the lizard likes it. That was your intention in the first place though, wasn't it?
Its a very serious topic, why shouldn't they take it seriously? Are not amused by seriousness? Understanding is in the eye of the beholder.
