It's summertime so that means It's time for the big annual BEACH PARTY at Gunnison Beach at the Gateway National Recreation Area in Sandy Hook NJ! Believe it or not, this will be the 17th year for the Bi Bare Beach Bash!! When: Saturday July 14 2012 from 9:30 am till closing (yea it's early, but if you're driving, the parking lots fill up early and the entire island will close until space is available at 1-2pm) Where: Sandy Hook - Gunnison Beach (the nude beach) aka Parking Lot G What: Come to the Clothing Optional Beach on Federal Land, Right in the Heart of NJ Note: Gunnison is a "clothing optional" beach, which means that there will be naked people at the event. However Gunnison is also a "nudity optional" beach, which means that you can wear as much or as little as you'd like! Most important is to Be and Feel Comfortable so that you can have the best time possible. Come as you are - remember, this is your party and you make it happen! EVENT DETAILS This is a radically self reliant event, and don't forget to Pack It Out! Carry in - carry out - leave no trace - so bring your own recycle and trash bag ETIQUETTE: The Beach is not sexually oriented in any way. Also please remember it is considered extremely rude to photograph others enjoying themselves at the beach. You should always ask permission to take a photo of someone whether they are clothed or not. FINDING US ON THE BEACH: Go to parking lot G at Gunnison Beach. Enter the beach and walk to the right. Hug the dunes. Keep walking until you see the second structure on the beach, a silver gray snack hut. Walk toward the overturned lifeguard chair and toward the water. We will be in that area. GIFTING: If you are a body painter, henna artist, drummer, expert applier of sunscreen, a hack guitar player, or have other gifts to bring, we want you to represent at this event! Bring extra to share, make a picnic of water and cold grapes, it's all good! WATER/FOOD/BEVERAGES: Everyone should bring their own water, freeze 1/2 bottle the night before, and then fill it up the day of the event, you'll be fine. There is a snack stand on the beach, so bring cash if you like hot dogs . . . You can also rent Sand Umbrellas from them. And YES, Alcohol IS permitted in plastic containers -- NO GLASS OTHER AMENITIES: Bug spray is good sometimes, and sunscreen is a must! Yes, people do bring tents, but not for overnight camping - the beach closes at dark. No open fires (Sorry, them's the rules.) There's a changing room and dousing showers at the start of the beach,so if you prefer to have a tan line, you can change into your suit at Gunnison Beach. ------ HOW TO GET THERE Fee collectors are on duty Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day at $15 per car - Carpool! From North Jersey and New York: New Jersey Turnpike to Exit 11 (Garden State Parkway) Garden State Parkway south to Exit 117 (Keyport/Hazlet) Follow Route 36 East for 12 miles. Entrance to park just after crossing Highlands Bridge. From South Jersey: Garden State Parkway north to Exit 105 (Eatontown) Follow Route 36 East. Past Monmouth Mall, across Route 35 and then continue through Eatontown and Long Branch (Route 36 here is called Joline Avenue). At Long Branch continue on Route 36 as it turns left (north) to follow along the ocean. Continue north for six miles (Route 36 here is called Ocean Boulevard) through the towns of Long Branch, Monmouth Beach, and Sea Bright to the park entrance. From Philadelphia & Central Jersey: New Jersey Turnpike to Exit 7A (Route I-195). I-195 East to Garden State Parkway. Then Garden State Parkway north to Exit 105 (Eatontown). Then continue as from South Jersey above.
